黎到中環,拎住部電腦好鬼重,需要搵個地方坐低做野。

原本想去拎一間,點知佢無開到,真係unLucky*** 一直係威靈頓街行下行下,見到呢間紅色門面幾sharp既Oscar,就入去問下佢地有無WiFi,個姐姐話有咁我就搵個位坐低啦。

唔想飲咖啡因為無幾耐前先飲完一杯,最後要左杯blueberry tea。

原本想叫d野食,不過好似唔係好吸引,所以最後都無叫到淨係飲野算。

BlueberrY Tea好快就黎到,因為其實唔需要任何技巧,佢搵個鐵既球體既物體盛載住D乾果同乾花,再放入紅茶入面等佢浸,所以唔好咁快飲,太快飲D味道未出黎,要等耐少少。

而且飲既時候亦要小心,因為其實都幾熱下,加埋有個鐵球會傳熱所以要小心D。

飲落去其實無咩特別,同出面飲既花茶差唔多,藍莓味反而唔重,個得花既味道重D。

不過其實我都只係志在有個地方坐同有得上網,暖暖地入黎飲杯野係幾舒服既。

今日正需要用多D時間上網做野,姐姐就行埋黎同我講今日 6 點關門,唔知係剩係今日定平日都係咁早關門架呢?

A coffee fanatic friend of mine whom I met in a cafe recently but doesn't contribute on Openrice once told me he thought the espresso base at Oscar's seem very inconsistent, ranging from either very sour due to low temperature extraction or very burnt. Also mentioned was one of his fellow coffee enthuasiasts who also espresso barhops to try locating the holy grail of the espresso cup who also thought along the same line.Nevertherless don't always believe what others say because as far as I'm concerned, each experience should be independent and could well be very different and so I arrived here to try it out for myself! ESPRESSO #1 This was very obviously burnt beyond reproach as extracted from their coffee machine, it was not even drinkable and anyone would have picked it up. >.<It accentuated that underlying Robusta bitumen character as well as a 'burnt coffee grind' taste. Its very burnt bitter Obviously this beans batch was also beyond the best drinkable window.This cup was served at a range outside of the Pablo & Rusty's blend's intended taste.LEFT UNFINISHED.0.5/5ESPRESSO #2 On another occasion, the beans batch felt much fresher as the colour, aroma, body and textural feel was more inline with expectation,whether it could have performed even better or worst if subjected to another few more days of rest is a question mark as it was too fresh enough to have possibly been beneficial of few more days aging to bring out its most prime flavour state!I guess that's what happens when you import beans from overseas, as its either too fresh, just right or the majoritive of times past its date,depending on the turn around!Unfortunately, this also was very burnt in the palate and thus so far carried none of the so described unpleasant acid my friend had suggested as experienced, even though he had warned me also of the other way around and the woes of having burnt expressos.This was actually made well by the Barista's except for machine temperature!2.5/5CAFFE LATTE #1 Even under the masking of milk this caffe latte still tasted too overly burnt and isn't doing justice to Pablo & Rusty's blend, which I have had prior experience of to relate to!The milk however was done superbly and smooth... the hallmarks of a very good barista.IN FACT, BOTH OF THE ABOVE 2 ESPRESSO, AS WELL AS THE CAFFE LATTE were technically made very well indeed.... the problem I have since discovered, lied strictly with either faulty machine settings or the inability of the machine to hold its prime extraction window's variables.*******************************The Baristas hopefully won't see my comment as being negative as they are actually so good, they're worthy of world standards for certain and one of the best in Hong Kong easily. I would personally employ them for my shop if I even had a cafe!But visually and from what I observed, one could tell they have already tried adjusting numerous set up's of the Mazzer Grinder, Machine,their method of making and already carry an expert knowledge on Milk Frothing technique, etc. They tried to make my drinks great but still to no avail, it remained apparent that the base Espresso shots were nowhere near what constitutes a good espresso let alone a great shot as intended by the famous Roaster. Whilst I did not experience any obviously 'faulty', superacidic shots as others had from here, my suspicion leads me to believe that either the Espresso Machine wa setup way off the mark or it just doesn't like to hold temperature consistently from ShottoShot. As a side note, its perhaps not surprising to discover that the owners of Oscar's Espresso Bar don't even like drinking Espresso's as I'd overheard that they are only interested in drinks topped up with Milk to cover up its apparent flaws.Perhaps they think THEIR espresso is too strong and bitter for them?Well there's a reason for it!Its a faulty shot!But as I've reiterated again and again milk often do wonders when it comes to masking the underlying bad taste of a poorly based espresso or most black coffees. If people would bother learning to appreciate a truly worldclass, high quality Espresso perhaps they would begin to see the light and finally understand, that apart from technique, they also need to set up the Coffee Machine properly or else buy a proper one which holds steady Temperature.Not everyone is so easily fooled into believingthey're getting a good coffee just because you add milk to it, when it isn't one!The proper drinking window of the Espresso base is unfortunately, something so very foreign to so many Hong Kong coffee shops for some unknown reason...Either too burnt, too much acid dropoff or too bitter espressos are rampant in this city, they stick out like a sore thumb when its off the mark! A good benchmark to start exploring espresso's is to give Barista Jam a visit. Here? Its probably more of a machine setup problem.

Headed here for a quick bite and didn't expect to taste delicious Spinach & Nutmeg Quiche ($39)! Wasn't really attracted to the slice, but I still went for it and ordered Smoked Salmon Salad ($40) due to the request of my growling tummy The salad was acceptable with the match of caesar dressing. The portion was good, but I spotted a handful of brown leaves...For the quiche, it was impressive! Without much expectation I was actually blown away how delicious it tasted. My advice is try it to believe me!

四月中旬純粹是路過,在門外看到年輕的咖啡師KT(不是食友KT),寒暄兩句,又發現小店內坐著的正是久未碰面的朋友,見還有點時間,就入來飲杯咖啡談談近況。

朋友別來無恙,問她今晚有什麼節目,原來同自己一樣,是回家吃飯,看她的泡沫咖啡不錯,卻不知她笑說每次來杯子都不同,時而闊時而高,哈哈原來是這樣子!偶開了個玩笑說要咖啡加煉奶,結果只有死死地氣來了杯espresso,替方才的麵消膩,即叫即泡的咖啡,味香濃,比起星巴已掛掉的咖啡豆好不知多少倍,喝畢,又擇定日子開飯,然後趕去拿雞,然後回家煮飯仔。

I have a quick coffee break when I walk through this Cafe, I was try the cappuccino on the day, it's not bad & have a really nice aftertaste, well temp, only problem is the milk foam is too fluffy,I will try their Espresso next times, but Oscar is already much more better the coffee chain store, a least you can feel they are really passion in coffee.
