I very much enjoy eating hot pot.  Being from Taiwan, I am used to dining at hot pot establishments where each diner has his/her own pot.  Not only is this method of eating hygeinic when dining with others, it also allows the diner to essentially customize his/her dinner and soup without worrying about the other diners.  In addition, the onepotperperson concept also allows the solo diner to enjoy hot pot.  This concept is a winwin situation for everyone.  It has been very hard for me to find hot pot restaurants in Hong Kong that offer Chinesestyle hot pot in a onepotperperson format, and so I was particularly excited when I learned of 状元麻辣 (English name of the restaurant: Best Spicy)'s opening.  Three other dining companions and I went to Best Spicy for dinner.  We made an advance booking, and were seated at a table with the individual hot pot burnerslease note that there are some tables in the restaurant that do not have the individual burners thus, if you are dining as a group, it is probably a good idea to call ahead and book in advance, requesting a table with the individual burners for individual pots, if that is what your party prefers. Each seat had a menu/placemat which laid out the food options.  For Openricers' reference, below please find the Chinese and English versions of the menu:You can choose to either dine as onepotperperson or the more traditional onepotpertable format.  Our party opted for the former, and so we all chose our own soup base and were presented with our own pots.  We then ordered a bunch of alacarte plates of food and shared those among those things we ordered: fatty beef, wontons, dumplings, various vegetables and vegetarian plates (watercress, cabbage, enoki mushrooms, corn, tofu, tofu skin, deepfried tofu skin, etc.), fresh prawns, chicken, lamb, rice, fish balls, cuttlefish balls, handmade (i.e., handpulled) noodles, udon noodles, etc.  There is also a makeyourown sauce counterbuffet where you can select your own condiments (some of the condiments offered included fresh minced garlic, scallions, chili, soy sauce, spicy soy sauce, sesame sauce, and shacha sauce).  The food and sauces were all good.  Each order of food isn't a huge portion (hence the comparatively lower prices of the alacarte menu), but my dining companions and I appreciated this because we could try different things and order more of the items we enjoyed the most.I opted for the "best spicy" soup there are three levels of spiciness you can choose from.  I chose the "medium" level (represented by a picture of two chili peppers on the menu), and found it to be spicy but not overpowering.  My dining companions opted for the plain soup (in one section of the English menu, it is rendered as "pain" soup, but this is a typo for "plain"), preserved egg+cilantro soup, and the tomatobase soup.  I think next time I will go for the plain soup. Here is a photo of an individual pot boiling away with different ingredients:Service was fast and friendly.  I also appreciated very much the quiet interior and the excellent ventilation these traits are very rare in hot pot restaurants in Hong Kong.  My dining companions and I were all happy that we did not leave with our clothes smelling completely of hot pot (which is a common occurence in other hot pot places in Hong Kong). I also noticed some diners eating a set meal (each diner got an individual pot and a large bowl with various vegetables, some noodles, some meat, etc) so I think that is an option as well.  In sum, I enjoyed Best Spicy, and I plan to return.  It is great that there is now an easilyaccessible hot pot restaurant in Hong Kong that employs the "onepotperperson" format of hot pot dining!
