The Chicken Man推介

The Chicken ManThe Chicken Man

It was just another normal afternoon when I was looking for some surprise. Walking along High Street, I was attracted by the appearance of this shop. It is quite uncommon for using yellow as the main theme. The settings inside the shop were quite unique also. Some wooden benches and wooden table, with a white ceiling and an open kitchen, well, sortof, gave me a sense of relaxation. The design was so British that reminded me those days when I was in London. According to the newspaper on the wall, the owner of this shop is an Australian. Before I ordered my meal, I talked to the owner and asked for recommendations. He told me “Chicken Breast Burger with Salad” would be a great lunch for boys. He also said the whole chicken breast was grilled under fire accompanied by some freshly cut tomatoes and vegetables, and all in a large bread. His words simply amazed me and I ordered that set immediately, with no doubts. After around ten minutes, my set was ready. The bread, to be honest, was not as large as I was expected. But the tomatoes were ready fresh and looked quite juicy. After my first bite, I instantly loved it. The bread was very soft and smooth. The chicken breast was really freshly grilled, it was juicy and simply fascinating. The skin was crispy and the inner part was hot and luscious. Perfectly cooked! The tomatoes and vegetables were fresh and very juicy indeed. The salad was just a side dish and relatively less tasteful than the burger, but it was still fine. However, not every aspect was perfect. The beverage part should be refined. Only packed drinks were available here. That means lemon tea or other drinks were not available. This problem was clearly unacceptable. All in all, I would still consider this lunch as a huge surprise. Although there were still some imperfections, the cook still did an excellent job. I appreciated this meal and The Chicken Man is highly recommended.

XD希望會有多D人欣賞the chicken man.

The Chicken Man

I must admit, since The Chicken Man opened a few doors down from where I live, I visit it more often than I should (given the amount of variety to choose from across Hong Kong). But it's not my fault! The amazing aromas lingering just outside its door lure me in every time.Succulent and flavorful roast chicken is the specialty that can't be missed (nor can any of their accompanying dipping sauces: the slightly spicy zing of Portuguese piripiri, pictured above, is my favorite). I've only tried the Brazilian variety so far, so I can't comment on the Australian option, but I can't imagine how it could top the Brazilian. While it is true that the chicken is the star, the menu has a lot of other supporting cast members that are worth exploring. I'd start with the roast vegetables, which are a seasonal combination (at the time of this writing you might find peppers, eggplant, pumpkin, etc) enhanced by herbs and garlic. Their rich and creamy potatoes dauphinoise (a French style of layered potato casserole that is tied together with a combination of dairy products) make for a great alternative to the roast veggies (or a second side, should you feel you need one). For dessert, you can't go wrong with the seasonal fruit crumble: fruit (I've had berry and mango so far), sugar, and probably a dash of lemon juice are covered with a coarse butterfloursugar mixture and baked, resulting in a crisp buttery topping with a warm, meltinyourmouth fruit base. A splash of vanilla sauce finishes the dish and balances the typicallytart fruit. Excellent.Everything at The Chicken Man is freshly made inhouse (except the baguettes they use for sandwiches, but they come from a local bakery) and the environment is relaxed and comfortable (make sure to admire the hilarious framed chickenthemed posters hanging along the wall). You'll often find the cheery owner hanging out at a table with a smile and a welcoming word an example that the rest of his staff follow beautifully, considering how caring and attentive they are.The Chicken Man is the new wunderkind of a rapidlygrowing array of culinary delights on High Street. Make sure to drop in for a visit I'm certain it will be the first of many.

Specializes in chicken, as the name suggests. Visit the website at www.thechickenman.com.hk.12:45pm and the high school kids come pouring in, literally. Seats fill up pretty quickly.Environment:There are three long benches near the entrance and 34 4seaters near the back of the restaurant, where I sat today.I quite like the long benches because it reminds me of the outdoors (picnic benches?) and nature. The restaurant is clean and welcoming. Service:Because of the long line of students who poured in after we got seated, H waved the owner/manager over and asked whether we had to queue up. The owner was very nice and said he would take our orders (although we were supposed to order at the counter ourselves).Must say that the owner is extremely friendly and is happy to chat with customers. He also helped me decide between cream of broccoli soup and the chicken noodle soup saying that the latter would help warm me up a bit today unpredictable weather!Food:Set Lunch B Chicken roll, soup and salad + $8 for dessert and +$6 for drink (juice box. apple juice. cheap stuff you can get for $5 next door in 7/11 hah) The filling comprised of cherry tomatoes and a filling of shredded chicken + mayo + celery which felt rather fattening but was yummy. It was wellseasoned and accompanied the baguettelike roll nicely. The roll was chewy on the inside and tough on the outside, like a baguette! The roll was not hot when served, something which could be improved. One disappointment: the socalled 'side salad' featured a few chunks of stewed/boiled carrots and onion. There was some sort of sauce/gravy which added flavour to it. If the menu didn't read 'side salad' I would've felt better about the purchase. Maybe it's the portion size; maybe it's my ingrained belief that 'side salads' must be predominantly green in color...? Potato fries were okay. There was a sprinkling of some kind of spice fragrant, not hot. Chicken noodle soup Do you see anything particularly appetizing at the bottom of this bowl? Not enough I would say. Good thing is, the soup is hot, and does warm one up on a cold day. Fusilli was al dente (surprisingly) and there were shreds of carrot and celery/leek and onion. The soup isn't flavorful enough quite bland and of course, watery, but I guess that's what distinguishes a consomme from a creambased soup. They also have cream of broccoli but the owner recommended the chicken noodle soup, so I picked that.Set lunch A 1/4 chicken, fries and salad $501/4 chicken with crisp skin is not enough for a hungry guy. The carcass gets in the way of the meat! The meat on the inside is rougher than drumstick or chickenwing meat. The meat was also a bit dry, but there is a chili/bbq sauce on the side for you to pour over the chicken. Although the chicken wasn't as tasty as eating a dozen chicken wings or drumsticks, I derived another kind of satisfaction from picking out and nibbling the last morsel of chicken from the carcass. It forces me to eat more slowly than usual, which is good for digestion. In terms of taste, it isn't very flavorful, but if you want some proper protein in your diet this is the way to go. Not too much fat for sure! I would order this when I come again. Apple crumbleA ripoff for $8 i would say. I'd be a much happier customer if the portion was larger. Size asides, it tasted alright but there was applesauce in the filling...hmm. Too sweet and gooey for my liking. The crust was pretty good though, sweet and slightly buttery at the same time. Chocolate brownieSize matters. Too sweet even for my sweet tooth, and too moist. I would've preferred it slightly brittle around the edges (i love eating rims and trims!) but maybe the piece I got so happened to be a square cut out from the middle of the whole brownie. Would not order this again. Conclusion:Not sure how well Chicken Man is received in these parts but I do appreciate wholesome chicken once in a while. It's not for everyonehonestly. But if you want to go for some solid chicken, Chicken Man is the place to go. Good luck. Hope the menu and prices will be adjusted soon.

I've been here twice so far and certainly will be coming back! Love the homey feel of the place (very clean and tidy), and the homecooked food style. The owner "The Chicken Man" is very friendly and helpful. Service is fast. The chicken soup is a must order for me, very much a comfort food. No MSG, light in oil and salt, very healthy! The roasted chicken is very nice and tender. The two special homemade sauce that go with it are very nice touch. If you like KFC style this is probably not for you, but if you like a lighter and healthier roasted chicken this is the best place to go! The second time I came the owner recommended an offthemenu special of ratatouille, love it! I also really like a sidedish of baked layered potatoes, very creamy and satisfying
