I had met up with a friend from overseas in Jordan as he had requested to try the famous Mak's Noodles, and also the Australian Dairy Company (oddly enough he and I are both from downunder).He was caught up with another appointment, and would be late for an hour at least. I was already on Parkes Street when he messaged me on LINE. Meh... I kept walking and stopped outside Mak's. Hey, there's a new modern cafe that stands out from the other shops. Feeling hungry (and nursing a hangover), I walked right in.The interior looks "clean": white walls with mirrors, white tables, plastic seats with wooden legs. One of the waitress/barista handed the laminated menu to me. I ordered the "special" Salted Caramel Latte, and asked for a large cup too, ha! I also ordered a cheesecake. I do not recall what's on the menu actually (obviously). Aside from a small selection of cakes, they have sandwiches and toasts, I think, but no cooked food like pasta. The usual coffee beverages are on offer tooThere were five other customers inside. Pretty good, this early and for the area, I reckon. I took a seat at the back and tried to make myself comfortable. The couple next to my table were rather loud, discussing fervently about financial matters, and I was annoyed for awhile until they left. Phew. My cheesecake came first and I was glad it did. Took a bite and thought it tasted generic very average. The latte came 5mins later. I took a quick sip, ahh this is much better. Strong coffee taste and just the right drinking temperature. The microfoam was smooth and velvety. Decent cuppa.Not long, the cafe started to fill up and noise level started to pick up. Another couple walked in and being the considerate person I am, I vacated the table for them. I took a short walk around the area and noticed another new western cafe under renovation nearby.Will be back, for the coffee, if I'm in the area.
