I ordered the takeaway yesterday, my French boyfriend and I enjoyed it so much. The roast chicken is well seasoned, though for me is not as crispy as the Chinese style one, but I love the flavour and I believe this is another cooking style.My French boyfriend said this is the best French style chicken he had since he arrives Hong Kong, we are so glad that we ordered it and it was a lovely meal.

I have to admit. I was very verryy reluctant to try this place after finding a slew of negative comments. But I am glad I stuck to my instincts and went ahead and tried it! This was lovely! I have had meals here for lunch as well as dinner. Set lunch is value for money and they have sets for dinner as well. Quality of chicken is stunning and the sides are fresh and go very well with the chicken. I read about people commenting that the sides were too cold but they are meant to be cold!The pictures speak volumes I believe.

The roast chicken is delicious and flavourful! Their set lunch options are very good value for CWB.  For 80$ you get a fourth of tasty chicken, a huge portion of your choice of side (I went for the Daphinois Gratin (creamy French potatoes)), as well as a big piece of any of their pies! They have at least 6 different choices of sides and 4 different choices of pie tarts.  I work in CWB and this is my new favourite place because you get so much great food for an affordable price. I've been to many many restaurants in CWB and even the more fancy venues do not have food this fresh and delicious.

Had a lot of expectations as I heard good things when this place first opened. Finally get to try it for the first time.We ordered the half roasted chicken and a side of grilled veggies. The veggies was wellseasoned (though not in Frenchstyle), but a bit mushy and was swimming in a layer of grease on the bottom, which made the last bites of my meal quite overwhelming and salty.My Italian chef friend said they might have forgotten salt on the chicken as all he could taste was the herbs (it was totally herbcrusted), and the chicken was soooooooooo dry that a bite of breast got stuck in his throat while he tried to swallow. I watched him tear the meat apart and there was no sign of moisture. Even the drumstick was dry. Maybe they didn't have time to brine the chickens for today? He ended up making a gravy before he could eat more.I would give them another try cuz I can't believe how bad it was and think that maybe they're just having a bad service day. Costco USD$5 chicken can top this hands down.

Everyone knows about La Rotisserie. Serving French rotisserie chicken in a take away style, it became a fast favorite among  many, thus opening up a total of four shops. I love that place and have ordered take away from there many many times. Each time I have loved every juicy morsel.Enter a new kid on the block called Poulette.  Which means chicken in French, this new place opened up in my neighbourhood of Happy Valley. Much like La Rotisserie, they also have chicken rotating away in a big oven for all to see. Offering sets much like La Rotisserie where you can choose a sides along with the chicken along with a la carte. The only thing different is that they offer not only French style chicken but two other flavors: Harissa (Oriental chili sauce) and Marocaine (lemon and Moroccan spice mix). It seems this place is more Moroccan inspired as they also offer Moroccan style sides, soup and even Moroccan mint tea!As I live nearby, I decided to try them out for lunch as they offer a lunch set deal of a quarter classic French chicken, side dish and a tart (for $80) or a Harissa/Marocaine style chicken, side and mint tea for $90. There is not seating as it is geared for take away. Menu is in English only. Staff only speak English (and French).I chose the classic French for it was my first time. I wanted to see: La Rotisserie or Poulette? Who does a better French chicken? Also, I wanted  a lemon tart.Everything was packed in a neat white cardboard box. The tart was in a plastic box. Proper eating utensils were provided.My choice of side was roasted zucchini. The side was cold. Seriously, cold. I live 5 minutes walking distance from this place and it was cold. While whenever  I order at the closest La Rotisserie in Wanchai (a good 15 minute tram ride), it's still warm. So, I ended up needing to microwave it to reheat it. The zucchini was bland. It didn't seem to be seasoned.The chicken was lukewarm.  Another strange thing  as La Rotisserie was always still warm when I take it home. Is it due to the fact that La Rotisserie wraps their chicken in aluminum foil to keep it warm and this place doesn't? It wasn't very moist to the point of falling off the bone like La Rotisserie.  Seasoning  wasn't as strong as well.Spotted leftover feathers on my chicken. Not a sign they cleaned this bird properly.My lunch set included a fruit tart of choice. I chose lemon as I love lemon tarts. The pie crust soggy. The taste of lemon wasn't strong. It was a pretty disappointing tart.I hate to compare to La Rotisserie but as it is their competitor, I have no real choice. It's just not as good as the original and it seems they are a weak copy. I'm sitting here wondering if I should have tried their Moroccan style items instead? Maybe that is what they are good at? As I live close enough, I could give them another try and do the Moroccan instead.
