When I read about this place on SCMP, I looked it up on Openrice and saw two reviews... and it seems there is some debate as to whether these little gems should keep a low profile so only those in the know (i.e. mostly Japanese expats who seek a slice of home) will know about it. I called and made a reservation in my pidgin Japanese, and the lady on the phone kindly responded in English halfway through.... phew. OK, so at least I wasn't turned away before I even arrived at their doorsteps.There was a bar with a several seats around the counter, 2 TVs showing Japanese shows, three tables seating four each, and a little balcony outside. The place is clean, cozy, quiet and welcoming, and the two ladies serving us were very accommodating, happily making recommendations and apologising for items that were not available. One spoke very good English and the other spoke Cantonese, so nonJapanese people would not feel lost at all. Lots of old school paintings and dainty artsy pieces dotted around the place.The boys started with Sapporo and moved onto sake, then back to Sapporo again. There were many choices of beverages, mostly alcoholic, and those who come seeking for a tipple are in for a treat. There was a generous selection of food as well, and I was surprised they had a Chinese menu but no English one. My gaijin friend was much better in spoken Japanese and was in charge of the alcohol, and I had fun learning new words by comparing items in Japanese and Chinese.The food was the highlight for me. Everything was FABulously executed, coming out in a wellpaced fashion, in perfectly sized portions for sharing and nibbling with alcohol, and was super tasty. The presentation was clean cut and well thoughtout. The smell.... My mouth would start watering every time I caught a whiff of what was to come from the kitchen, highly anticipating the next dish to arrive. There was nothing to fault. And we ordered plenty, but I would have kept going if my stomach allowed, since I didn't get round to trying their chicken rice, or their noodles for that matter. And I was playing around with my new iPhone app which resulted in these photos with a retro feel to them. Check it out and start drooling. If you come on your own for a bit of peace and quiet, there's a set menu with 4 items at $200. It was, and we all agreed, the best Japanese meal we've had in Hong Kong, and it brought back memories of the times we spent in Japan, especially Hokkaido which had a special meaning for all three of us.

認識了一位略懂廣東話的居酒屋老闆，有興趣知日本人收工後的喝酒私竇，一輪雞同鴨講下得知這間樓上舖的存在，在飲食網站找資料，然而開在銅鑼灣的日本料理食評量竟然是無，真神奇！坐在棕木色的皮椅子，面對著一系列燒酌，及感覺很老很傳統的日本酒，店員搖著酒杯，在柔和燈光下與客人閒話家常，異鄉人需要酒，更需要一處讓他們拾回家鄉感到空間。

自家薯餅，面層灑上薄薄一層麵包糠，炸得酥化不油，薯蓉混入肉粒，粗糙粉黏並帶日本男爵薯的獨特薯甜，日本人做的炸薯餅，真的不會差到那裡。

幾味家常送酒小料理做得不錯，但較之更有趣的，是真實卻如夢幻的廠景氣氛，看看錶，是時候埋單回歸現實了。

後話，在上載網誌後，收到一為匿名人留言：「The owner and staff as well as other Japanese customers, have openly said to me they didn't want too many HK customers (but a few is ok) to come here and spoil the atmosphere:」，令我想起精武門的劇情，今天還有香港人禁入的日本地方？餐廳打開門，如不歡迎客人的話店方是有權限「送客的」，但我既來到，就會寫我所吃、所感、所經歷的事與大家分享，這段對話我亦會原文實錄。

九月下旬‧晴日本的男人，主要去兩個地方喝酒，不是傳統的日式居酒屋，就是上樓的西式酒吧。

在香港，也有不少經營得比較地道一點的居酒屋，但上樓的西式酒吧就不多。

早期當還有不少的日本人在香港工作的時候，這裡居酒屋及西式酒吧，就是他們工餘聚腳，一解鄉愁的地方。

是在本地的日本人消閒雜誌裡，知道有這裡的存在。

店子由日本人主理，服務對象也非以本地人為主。

如全店上下的所有餐牌及告示，也以日文為主。

女大將森田太太穿上和服侍客，談吐溫文，亦相當好客。

是晚喝的是薩摩芋燒酌，聞起來芋香味濃，剎那間，就像回到東洋，感覺很不錯。

飯局時喝食友談起，也談到有好些網友反對我們將這個地方放上公開網誌，說這裡本不是招呼本地人的地方云云。

個人覺得，跟大家分享吃喝的經歷，是這等網誌的宗旨，難道有好的地方卻不作推介嗎？這是有違這等飲食網誌的本意。

況且，公開這裡，也可以讓一些真正想感受東洋酒吧氣氛的朋友知多一點，有興趣的話來試試，也是好事。
