Take Me Out推介
I love corndogs. It was the one thing growing up as a child and getting at the summer fair. That and cotton candy, frozen lemonade and corndogs was the thing I always looked forward to in the summer months as a child. On my way to lunch, boyfriend and I came across this newly opened shop called Take Me Out. I saw they sold corndogs and promised to them I'd be back after lunch. Much to their surprise, I did return. If something peaks my interest, I always return.I must confess. This little guy was what pulled me over in the first place. Though not very big, there area few stools for sitting if you want to eat there and a cute little ping pong table. They had bags of cornmeal to show that they made the corndogs themselves.Apparently it had just opened not too long ago so they have a soft opening menu. Menu is in English only. Everything cost $11. I'm unsure if this price will change after their soft opening promotion. What they sell is variations of corndogs and lemonade varieties. They also sell noodles and something called Angel hair pasta from that famous restaurant. What is that supposed to mean? They buy from that place and resell it to you??But I wasn't interested in noodles and pasta. I was interested in a corndog. And I washed it down with lemonade. This is what the corndogs looked like. I chose a corndog with ketchup as that's how I like it. But if you want more ketchup or even mustard, they have a squeeze bottle for you to do it yourself. Boyfriend chose the peanut sauce topping. That's the thing on the top. As the corndogs are fried to order, we waited a little while for them. They were hot, but not piping hot that you burn your tongue on them. I really disliked the peanut sauce one. It just tasted like peanut butter. I guess I'm just a traditional corndog girl. The coating was fairly good and I could tell it was not the premade frozen stuff as it was not sticky. It had a nice soft crumbly topping. The only thing was the sausage used was the cheap soggy kind. I guess I grew up with the good crispy sausages (or even Oscar Meyer) in my corndogs. But I guess here if they use that kind of sausage, they'd have to increase prices. But I think if they used a better sausage, this would be a top notch dog!We ordered a lemonade. They had various versions but they didn't have mojito that day. So, I had the original. Which was really REALLY bad. This was not lemonade. This was lemon water. It was seriously weak. Not enough lemon. I think I get better lemonade from prepackaged stuff from the grocery store. How hard is it to make lemonade? Lots of lemons, some water and lots of sugar. As there was no mojito flavor (which is what would have been a good combination), boyfriend chose coconut lemonade. This was basically dessicated coconut flakes thrown into the same cup of lemonade. It wasn't steeped in at all. Quite honestly, not good at all. Which makes me pause, if they don't bother to steep the coconut into the lemonade, then the mojito would be useless as the mint would have not time to actually steep into the lemonade to really get that flavor in.The corndogs good but could be better. For $11, I guess I can forgive on them using a cruddy weiner. But the lemonade is horrible. For a place where they have a mascot that is a lemon, I'd expect it them to make wicked lemonade but nope. It was just weak lemon water. I would return for a corndog but stay away from the lemonade unless they learned how to make it.
