I was invited here by a friend for private dining (at lunchtime) if you want the complete emersion into Japan while sitting in Hong Kong, this restaurant does it in heaps and shovels. From the time you enter at their ground floor lift, you are greeted in Japanese with staff dressed in Kimonos. As you leave the lift on the first floor, you are now IN JAPAN.. low wood ceilings, tatami mats and shows off (check for holes in socks first!) The room we sat in was a traditional Japanese style, where you sit at the same level as the table the food was around 912 courses (although I rather lost count) their fish is flown in daily from Japan, their rice is delivered with the husk still on so that the restaurant processes the rice in the kitchen so you get the full flavour... each dish was presented in antique plates and lacquered boxes the artistic nature was a feast to the eyes, not only the stomach. Staff shuffle quietly around you in full Japanese dress as they serve each guest onebyone. The manageress explained each course the history behind it... and as far as I was concerned, I was now in Japan savouring each course. The entire threehour lunch concluded with the traditional tea ceremony truly the best Japanese restaurant I have ever visited (that includes those in Japan!)
