皇后大道東的PACIFIC COFFEE是我的至愛, 樓上的座位差不多全是SOFA, 而且下午茶時段人甚少,最喜歡它的鮮奶咖啡, 滑又濃, 再加一件芝士蛋糕, 下午茶極品,已來不知多少次了, 為什麼這次特別要寫評, 全因為有位阿伯級的西裝友, 在十分寧靜的環境下, 大聲講電話, 大聲到全間二樓的客人都望住佢, 但佢一點兒下沒察覺, 唉…. 無得救….. 我當然知道這是公共場所, 我無權叫他收聲, 所以我才在這裡發發勞騷….

Occupying 2 storeys, I guess this is one of the largest PCC outlets in HK right?The decor resembles a classical English reading room, and it actually boasts a small library at the back of the shop with shelves of books for your leisurely reading. As I couch in one of the red velvet armchairs sipping my staple Short Skim Latte ($23) which is the usual fare, I run my finger through the book shelf beside me and pick up a book randomly, which is...not unexpectedly a cookbook of Chinese dishes for Westerners!My BBQ Pulled Pork Kaiser ($2x) is more like a hamburger with shredded pork (Char Siu??), lettuce and tomato. The Kaiser roll is sort of soft and there's too much mayo which has softened the pork, spoiling its texture. I'd recommend this place for "hea"ing or hanging loose like the expat does, but you have to convience youself of the quality of the coffee or food...

八月中旬‧晴年紀大了，睡得少的一天，在工作與工作之間，就找個地方休息一下。

這裡有兩層，上層疏化位極多，是休息的好地方。

隨手買了支有氣礦泉水，拿了上樓上，找個舒服的座位，聽著ipod，朦朧間，睡去了。

半晌，要走了，原來這支是Galvanina，喝起來，還幾解渴。

一間好的咖啡店，坐得舒適，也很緊要。

所以這裡的咖啡只一般，但我覺得，還是不錯的咖啡店子。

雖然一向避免光顧星星克同埋pacific，原因有太多廢事講，不過是日既我實在太懶惰，而且天氣實在太熱，唔想再行只係好想搵個地方坐下，所以就衝左入去lu~~~估唔到下午既時間竟然無咩人，只有幾個外國人係度好悠閒飲緊咖啡，另外仲見到某d客人唔光顧就咁坐左係度，順便幫電話"差"電..... 哈，當然店方都唔介意我更加無所謂，我反而係度諗，係消費主義下，會唔會真係公共地方可以俾市民休憩既空間太少？好肚餓要搵d野食，不過都無咩見到邊樣食物特別吸引，最後就叫左個Apple crumble，店員好好咁問我駛唔駛加熱，麻煩佢啦。

另外叫左杯tall cappuccino，於是就搵左個梳化位慢慢坐啦。

店員每一次都會好好咁提客人小心熱，小心手等，不過我坐係度聽既時候.... 聽落真係幾機械式，我唔係要求佢點，都係講下姐。

apple crumble個底好硬呀，咬都咬唔到咁制，所以最後個底我放棄左，淨係食左表面個脆脆同埋d蘋果肉。

表面食落幾鬆化，蘋果肉幾細碎帶微酸，撇除個硬到咬唔到既底都ok的。

Cappuccino表面層奶泡幾厚下，飲落咖啡味唔算太濃，奶味重都幾易入口的。

係度又渡過左悠閒既一小時，食物咖啡都一般，不過環境又實在真係幾好坐，嗯... 好難決定呀.... 到底應該俾笑面定ok面？

Pacific Coffee,naturally seen as the biggest competitor to Starbucks, in reality is linked to its nemesis as both brands have roots in their Seattle start ups.P.C. is now a Hong Kong based entity however and expanding into the surrounding countries, and expecting to open many outlets in China. Pacific Coffee in my opinion has Better Potential in its cups of coffee than Hong Kong's Starbucks.Their Coffee Beans are slightly fresher and less darkoily than their competitor, as technically they're roasted to a profile more suitable for the Semiautomactic style machines they utilise, rather than aimed at the SuperAuto (aka PressAButton) machines.Really Dark Roasted beans then becomes amplified as the Starbucks beans sit in the shipping containers too long. What matters the most however is the OUTCOME.... and unfortunately and here's the jargons bit, despite having the better Set Ups and no bottlenecks in the Hardware, their Coffee Makers do not understand the theories behind how to use their equipment at all. My cup above, when I reluctantly tried it again was so scalding hot, it was undrinkable phsyically as well as in terms of burnt flavours in both coffee base and milk....the Espresso's I've had at Pacific before are equally bad as they're permanently underdosed, they've been trained that way to save money (?), they're inevitably thin bodied, cigarettelike water which washed out only the dark oils but without actually 'extracting' the flavours and aromas within. ******* Caffe Habitu and Epoch are much better than both Starbucks and Pacific Coffee in the coffee aspect, they cannot even be compared in terms of approach and training... I think I respect these shops.The problem with Coffee vs Food is that, if you don't do it within a 'sweet spot' range, its performance falls right off the cliff! Anyway that's why I go to the above two places more often, plus there is free WiFi at both if you have a Smartphone or Laptop, just ask for their printed code. Here?Like MIX, their advantage is that there's 23 computers for emergency use, but there's often no free wifi or the occasional 20 minutes worth(like McDonald's or Starbucks via Y5Zone), and their computers have too little RAM and they crash Internet Explorer every now and then.
