The 2 of us went to meet a friend at the airport who's coming through HK for a few hours before he flies out again. And since he was carrying his luggage and it was 9pm by the time he arrived, we thought we should get something to eat to refresh him on his long journey onwards.So my friend suggested Melody Thai which is popular with the airline staff, and for good reasons: 1) It's close to the airport, about a 5 minute drive away, 2) The restaurant has a 7 seater car which offers free pickup services for passengers, 3) There is indoor and outdoor seating area. Our visitor friend wasn't hungry so it was just a smoke and a few beers for him, which I"m sure he appreciated after being in an aeroplane for 8 hours without a smoke.So the driver met us at the airport carpark and took us to the restaurant. It's next to the Handi Indian restaurant, and it's pretty quiet since there aren't many buildings around. We sat outdoors and ordered a stirfried morning glory, red chicken curry and chilli stirfried rice with beef. And of course, lots of singhas, lime soda and a longan drink.The food came in reasonable portions, everything tasted great (because we were all hungry), and the first dish came 5 minutes after we ordered, followed promptly by the others. The singhas came with a cool little beer bottle holder which we thought was an excellent design as it was thin, plastic, and no fuss. The longan drink was a bit too sweet for me eventhough I had already asked them to make it less sweet, but otherwise everything was great. Afterwards we had a sticky rice pudding with mango and those green coconut milk layered puddings, and both were still warm, sticky and chewy and rounded off the dinner well.The staff are all thai girls, attentive without being intrusive. The place is a little gem out in Lantau, and something we much prefer over the shopping mall generic restaurants. Plus a free dropoff at the airport too, how awesome is that?

This restaurant has a horrible service. I live in Tung Chung and usesd to order take out service. It always needs to wait for a long time and every time the food is cold. Occassionally they calculate wrong price and take wrong order. But they simply put the blaime on you.So if you live in Tung Chung area, never order take out from this restaurant. There is a better Thai restaurant near Tung Chung MTR station.
