Happened to pass by and saw buyonegetonefree offer for their Classic Waffle Cream Cookies so decided to try two. We were told that the best before date was today which was why they were doing this offer. They were so nice to offer one more for free for my kid so effectively we only paid $20 for 3 what a great deal! We immediately tried it. They were very delicious the typical sweet egg flavour of the waffle which was still crunchy but there was nothing special with the white cream inside (maybe just vanilla). However, it was really too sweet even though it was shared among a few of us At this price, it was really a great deal but if they were sold at their original price of $20 each I don't think they were worth the price.

Among the many new shops found in the newly renovated Sogo grocery department store is Quolofune. Quolofune hails from  Tokyo and what they sells is castella cakes, biscuits and dorayaki. All individually packaged in a clean design.With the new grand opening, they offered a special package of their popular items for $100 instead of the usual $150.  A saving of $50. I decided to buy one to try.There were a total of four items packaged inside a  white cardboard box.The items were a regular castella cake, matcha castella, a chocolate biscuit and dorayki.The dorayaki was packaged like so.It was the size of my hand and bit on the sticky side.The filling was azuki bean which wasn't too sweet. However, the cake itself was super sticky. So sticky it stuck to my fingers.The chocolate biscuit was in a small package.It turned out to have a wavy cut.In the middle was a sandwich of chocolate cream. I actually liked this biscuit a lot. the cookie was crunchy. The chocolate cream was creamy and smooth. All was not overly sweet.The original castella cake came in a white and gold package.This cake was rather moist and had a good bit of crumb. It had a nice buttery fragrance and I quite liked it.The other castella included was matcha flavor.The cake was a bit more dry than the original flavor but it did have a nice strong matcha taste that I liked.Thoughts on this was I expected to be more blown away as I spent $100 for four items. That's like $25 each. For the something that tasted like packaged cake, I was a bit disappointed. If it was cheaper in price, I would have been quite happy with it. But as it cost a bit more and tasted like packaged cake, I was not too impressed and probably won't buy it again. However, I did notice that original shop in Tokyo sells dorayki with fresh cream and fruit or mochi. Why wasn't this sold here? Especially since I read that those items were what made this place so popular. Instead they have only offered some mediocre items to the Hong Kong market. Probably won't be back.
