西營盤電車路大街的泰國小店,室內係大排檔式摺檯凳,位置唔多。

平日放lunch過來,可能附近商業大廈唔多,12:30左右都仲有位。

其實呢間招牌應該係船面,但都有唔少其他選擇。

自家制泰式凍奶茶 ($20)奶茶都唔細枝,茶味香濃幼滑。

一直都鐘意飲泰式奶茶嘅我會覺得甜度剛剛好,同泰國當地嘅奶茶差不多味道,但飲開港式奶茶嘅可能覺得太甜。

泰式海南雞飯 ($46)飯嘅份量十分多,但個人認為油飯味道唔夠濃郁,飯粒有d太軟。

雞有齊雞腿、雞翼同雞胸部分,雞肉都幾滑同入味。

好多年冇寫過食評今日突然之間寫返係因為真係有感而發!唔明點解8:30九點間餐廳其實唔算多客,得嗰幾台客,都可以做到手忙腳亂⋯⋯單又亂,拎住碟嘢食周圍問係邊個嘅😅(疫情啊大佬,個個唔戴口罩認你碟嘢都食咗10個客嘅口水啦)我地食完個海南雞飯,個船麵都未到!淨係喺度話整緊啦~整緊個湯⋯⋯🥲隔離枱有對情侶食晒成枱野個小食都仲未到於是取消咗張單,後面張枱有兩個飯未到一直催單,到左嗰樣都就快食完⋯⋯我哋都有少少想棄單。

仲聽到店員喺度話啲外賣單要做左先⋯⋯咁即係坐係到嗰啲客反而冇咁重要?(做唔切又接咁多單)講番食物,價錢對食物質素黎講真係好抵!因為我哋叫嘅四樣都真係好飲好食,雖然等到燥左,都下到少少火。

泰式凍檸茶:用青檸取代檸檬,個味好特別,有少少似酸梅湯味,幾好飲。

海南雞飯:個飯底本身夠味(但未加汁之前會有少少dry),雞好滑,切得好細條好易入口。

泰式水門醬好香少少辣,唔食得辣嘅人應該都食到,岩我。

船麵:個湯好濃,個金邊粉好有咬口,啲雞絲好林唔會乾爭爭,好足料!入面有好多唔知係乜嘢嘅料🤣🤣好新奇。

大大個椰青:話唔甜唔收錢,都好難會唔洗比錢,清甜到呢⋯⋯啲肉仲好嫩滑。

但唔開心嘅係明明見佢揸住個椰青,點知話要等師傅開咗等咗超過5~10分鐘⋯⋯唉!不過走嗰陣時成個口都係椰青味都幾滿足~

之前聽好多朋友都話666泰船麵幾好食, 趁住今晚冇飯開, 約咗朋友去試試<豬肉船金邊粉>想試吓多啲嘢食, 所以我哋就嗌咗份豬肉船金邊粉share大部份嘅船麵都有得揀大碗或者細碗, 但推介嘅豬肉船金邊粉就只得大碗金邊粉嘅湯底幾濃郁, 雖然喺大碗, 但金邊粉份量都比較少豬肉船金邊粉配料有肉片肉丸同豬肚, 上面仲有炸得又脆又香嘅豬皮<雞串燒>雞串燒同樣係細細份, 雞肉肥瘦適中, 沙嗲醬都幾香, 仲灑上咗花生碎<泰式炸魚餅>泰式炸魚餅都好惹味, 味道比外面食到嘅更辣<自家製泰式凍奶茶>自家製泰式凍奶茶奶味好重, 茶味相對較低<椰青>椰青唔係好甜, 麻麻哋

Summary: The star of this restaurant is the Thai boat noodle taste good (with a bit of adjustments it'll be great). Combine with the price, I'll definitely come back when I need to get rid of my craving for the dish. Other dishes are a bit hit or miss though. Smiley face for the noodle, but gave OK because of other dishes.The Goods: Very reasonable price. Taste (almost) authentic.The Bads: One dish isn't what we expected (taste wise, more HK adapted style). Table is a bit tight.Damage: The two of us ordered 2 mains (rice/noodle) with 2 sharing dishes and one coke, which came to HKD170, or that's HKD85 per person. However, I will make a note that we over ordered because we want to try other stuffs. It could have been one less sharing dish or just stick to the main which only cost around HKD46 per person. NOTE: I did some calculation later and the price per dish combined isn't HKD170 as my bill suggests (it's 174!). So they either missed some item in the bill or they just gave us some discount.Boat noodle is always one of the Thai dishes I struggle to find a good one (outside Thailand). A lot of Thai restaurants (that serves everything) don't do it well because even in Thailand you'll most likely find it in a specialty store (only sell this particular dish!). This shop does a pretty good job especially with the price. I still think the absolute best is another shop (Samsen) but it also comes with hefty price. For a person as stingy as I am, I'll definitely come back to this shop to quench my craving for boat noodle. The shop is quite narrow as with other HK restaurants. The round table we were seated is divided into 2 sides so it feels a bit tight. I wouldn't complain though especially for this price. Other than the small table, the shop looks tidy enough with good decoration. The shop is full of (presumably) owner's photos which we always find a bit interesting decoration choice (find it everywhere in HK).What we orderedAs the name of the shop, we'll of course have to order the boat noodle. Funnily, it's not listed as the first in their menu, and the name in English doesn't say 'boat' (Chinese name does). We ordered Beef Thai Noodles at HKD46 , that's item A11 in the menu. There's an option for small bowl but I saw it and it looks way too small just go with the normal one. As said, this is the best dish in the restaurant. The good things are 1) broth, which is the main thing I find in this dish, tastes good, it's thick and taste just the way I would expect to have in Thailand, 2) they use our kind of noodle (similar to Hofun but a bit chewier and not as wide) and 3) good portion with a few items to eat (by the way we don't normally serve it with radish but that's alright). The things they can improve on are 1) the broth base can have more herb + stronger flavour, 2) their stew beef is more like HK style, ours taste slightly different (flavour wise), and they could be more tender, and 3) a bit nitpicking (especially for this price) they could provide some other condiments like Thai sweet basil, and uncooked bean sprout. Despite all that 'improvement' I still think it's a good dish and would recommend it. As for another main, we ordered Thai Hai(na)nese Chicken and Rice at HKD46, that's item B1 in the menu. We ordered it because we saw a lot of reviews about it. Some people in other reviews also order with truffle sauce (which is more expensive) but I never liked truffle; smell unpleasant and overpriced.  The good points first 1) rice is very flagrance with chicken fat, garlic, and ginger 2) dipping sauce (Thai style) taste almost right, and 3) chicken is juicy. The rice portion is A LOT and I kind of regret I finished all (I'm on semi diet). However,  I wouldn't say it's strictly Thai style (except for the dipping sauce) because the chicken taste more like HK style steamed chicken we boil. As my wife's comment, you come for Thai food, so it should be Thai style (despite the HK style might be a preferred choice for most HKer). The rice is a little too salty, and the sauce is a bit too sour and needs more sweetness. Overall it's still good, not really Thai but still good. You could eat it elsewhere though, so I would say.... try some other dishes.We also ordered 2 sharing dishes, the first one being Thai Fish Cakes at HKD33 or item E6 in the menu. There are 5 pieces in total and as usual with this dish in HK, they all come perfectly sized, which always kept me wondering is it prepackaged (i.e. not store's recipe)? Regardless of that, I still think it taste good. It taste like what it should be, although being a bit toned down. The ones in Thailand will be spicier. Great ones will have strong herby flavour (but it has to be made fresh), and will have very soft/chewy texture due to a type of fish we use. They provide Thai sweet chilli sauce as dipping sauce (at all tables) which is ok for it (but we also have a special sauce for the dish too just a matter of choice). I would recommend it if you want some extra snacks, otherwise just stick to the boat noodle. The last dish is Thai Spicy and Sour Chicken Feet at HKD39  or item E7. It might be because we ordered this after we already half way done with our food (so not as hungry), but it's not what we hoped it would be. Appearance wise it has all the parts we expected (except perhaps spring onion/shallot/Chinese celery which are all a matter of cooking choice), but it doesn't taste as good as we like. I think there are a few problems here; 1) it's served cold where the actual thing is either a bit warm or room temp, 2) they use garlic which we normally don't for this type of dish, 3) I think they need more sourness and saltiness (doesn't smell much fish sauce), and 4) I think it's premade which changes the texture and impact flavour a bit. The dish is like what you would find in other places in HK so I would imagine it's the style HKer likes, or it's just cheaper to do it this way. Either way, it taste ok, I could eat it just to satisfy my craving but wouldn't say it's the best. As such, I would not recommend it.Some final words; as mentioned, this restaurant strength is the boat noodle which I think they should keep that as their main offering. You should try the boat noodle exclusively and think of other dishes as sharing to give some variety. If not because of other dishes, I would have given a smiley face overall I would definitely come back for their boat noodle. Also as usual, see below their menu. Enjoy!
