The new addition of Cupping Room is almost definitely welcomed at Sassoon road. It brings a new option during lunch hours and serves the best coffee in the vicinity. The cupping room is located on the ground floor of the faculty of medicine building and now currently have lunch options! There are currently limited options, but beside their lunch options they also have a pastry stand which is worth checking out.The lunch options all follow a similar layout. There is a moderate layer of rice seasoned with different vegetables on top which usually includes zucchini, cherry tomatoes and a nice soft boiled egg. The main different between the options usually lies in the main ingredient which ranges from pork belly to chicken sausage and mentaiko sausage. Currently my favourite is the mentaiko sausage as it provides the most flavour and it is most compatible with the rest of the dish. The chicken sausage is a bit weird given that it is designed to still have a bone in it. It tastes like any regular sausage so I’m not sure what value the bone brings. The pork belly is also a standard pork belly that is seasoned well. The 5262 dollar price tag that’s slapped onto this meal is steep for a meal at Sassoon road. There are alternatives that serve similar quality but large portions. The drinks at cupping room is probably the reason why you would go to begin with. I personally got the iced matcha latte with oatly. Pleasantly surprised that the drink was less than 50 and was of good quality. I would suggest people to try their coffee as it is of good quality too.
