Fiamma was the buzzword among food magazines. The second restaurant in Hong Kong  by four Michelin star chef Enrico Bartolini after the very successful Spiga, this one is more casual but still focused on classic Italian dishes. It's location was at the Peak. And as it was a special day, boyfriend and I decided to make reservations there for dinner.Located outside the Peak Galleria, it has both indoor and outdoor seating. There is an open kitchen on one end and spacious seating throughout. They have a grab and go area for baked goods to take away but as it was night, it seemed they had closed that area.Menu is in English only. There is no Chinese. It appeared to focus on very classic Italian dishes. No fusion of Asian flavors. Just the classics. And that's what we were here for.We started with drinks. I had the Aperol Spritz ($98hkd, on the left).  Boyfriend had the Yau Pale Ale ($88hkd, on the right). My drink was just me trying to remember my trip to Italy and it was good. Refreshing with a bit of bitterness so it wasn't as sugary sweet as some places do it. Boyfriend had a local craft beer called Yau. It was nice and had a lychee taste. Usually I hate beer but this was nice and fruity. We were also provided with a bread basket that included focaccia and ciabatta. Rarely I talk about the bread basket as it's usually uninteresting, but this basket surprised me. It was wonderful. The focaccia was so fragrant and soft.  I could eat endless amounts of it. The ciabatta had a wonderful crust and had a good chew. Olive oil and balsamic vinegar was provided for dipping.  This made me regret not coming earlier and getting a chance to buy some baked goods from their take away section so I could take some home.We began with two appetizers thinking they were small portions. Were we surprised! They weren't small at all!Vitello Tonnato ($158hkd).  A much fancier plated version of the one I had in Italy. The veal was tender and so flavorful. The tuna ssauce was creamy and smooth. There was finely chopped salty capers  on top along with sundried tomatoes to give some acidity to balance it out. All of this was laid on a bed of mixed greens. Boyfriend loved it. It was his version of a salad.Fritto Misto ($168hkd). What's not to love?  The dish included scabbard fish, anchovies, prawn, mussels, squid and friggitelli green peppers. The coating was not thick but it was still crispy. Everything was not overcooked. The best was the fish ... the meat flaked apart so easily. All this was dipped with a creamy sundried tomato mayo.Pancia di Maiale ($208hkd). We ordered this as our main. Roasted pork belly was so tender, it literally melted in my mouth.  Possibly my favorite of the evening. The fat was perfectly rendered so it didn't feel fatty. There was a good sear of the skin so it was crisp. It was laid on a bed of well seasoned spinach and luxuriously soft confit potato. All this was topped with fennel pollen.Tagliatelle al Ragu Cinghiale ($198hkd). As any traditional Italian dinner, we chose a pasta dish. The tagliatelle was al dente and it clung to the sauce well. No sogginess was detected. The ragu was made from Tuscan wild boar. The slow cooked meat was so soft and flavorful. The tomato sauce was intense. This was delicious comfort food. What I found surprising was they didn't add Parmesan like so many restaurants I know. Quite brilliant, I think. To not distract from the ragu.We couldn't decide on one dessert as everything looked wonderful so we finally settled for two.Cannoli ($88hkd). The pastry was so crisp and light. The ricotta filling was not as smooth as I wanted but it was also not too sweet as well. There were three of them, each with a different coating on the ends: creamy chocolate chips, chopped pistachio and sweet orange peels.Panna Cotta ($88hkd). This was divine. The panna cotta was not overly sweet but so creamy and smooth. It was dotted with edible flowers and fresh fruit. A mixed berry compote was added to the top and bottom to give a sour touch to balance out the overly rich panna cotta. From the two desserts, this was my favorite.The food was spectacular. The service attentative. Water was refilled without asking and plates were changed throughout the meal. Prices not expensive considering you are dining at The Peak  where a lot of other restaurants tend to over charge. Would definitely recommend this to anyone who wants impress.

Visited this new italian restaurant by the Michelin chef Enrico Bartolini earlier this week and the culinary experience was fantastic!! Located on the Peak, this restaurant offered authentic homestyle italian cuisine in a cozy environment.The pizza is definitely my favourite!! We tried the Quattro formaggi, which literally means 4 types of cheese (fior di latte mozzarella, gorgonzola, pecorino toscano and smoked scamorza) in italian. The crust is just perfecto chewy and soft with a crispy and puffy rim. Really recommended!!The lasagna featured homemade pasta layered with a bechamel sauce, with a generous amount of parmigiano reggiano (so cheeesy!) Delicious!For the appetizer, we tried the Vitello Tonnato. The slowcooked veal was very tender, tasted even better with the homemade tuna sauce. We also tried the parmigiana di melanzane, which is italian aubergine topped with smoked cheese and parmigiano reggiano as cheesy and as good as the lasagna!For the dessert, we tried the cannoli and tiramisu. The pastry of the cannoli was so crispy and flaky! Each of the cannoli was topped with a different coating on the end pistachio, chocolate chips and sweet orange peels, that’s why they all taste unique. But my favourite still goes to the classic tiramisu loving the balance between the espresso infused ladyfingers and the mascarpone!Nearly forgot to mention, I really love their bread basket especially the ciabatta!! The sourness of the bread was right on point and the crust was divine! Overall, fiamma offered highquality classic italian dishes at a reasonable price ($378 pp for a three course meal), with good service and atmosphere. Perfect for dates and celebrations! .
