Long time no decent Japanese lunch! My lunch partner was so nice to bring me to this new Japanese restaurant in 歌賦街. Sometimes I do like walking a little bit farther uphill from Central CBD as there are many hidden yet very nice restaurants offering great food at very reasonable prices. This restaurant was at the end of 歌賦街 with a very special entrance! I really loved the painting on the entrance!It was quite a small Japanese restaurant renovated mostly in wood with wooden chairs and tables. There were less than 20 seats. Traditional Japanese music was played throughout. For some moment, I really thought I was in Japan.Their lunch menu had both sashimi and cooked dishes sets. Prices varied from the cheapest set of $98 to $329. 10% service charge applied.As it was our first visit, we tried one sushi set and 1 cooked food set.岩手.建壽司8貫 $198+10%All sushi had been seasoned with soy sauce and wasabi so that you didn't need to do it yourself, like those served in topnotch sushi bars right? The 8 pieces of sushi were mostly white fish including 𩶘魚, 鱆紅魚, 金目鯛 and other fish like 秋刀魚, 鯖魚, ended by a 魚肝軍艦. Sliced pickled gingers were also served for you to clear your tongue before trying the next piece of sushi.We suspected that it should be 𩶘魚 sushi. It was quite long. It would have been even better if it were thicker.We suspected that it should be 鱆紅魚 sushi.This should be 金目鯛.We couldn't tell which fish it was and the sakura flavour from the flowers on top was quite strong. The fish was quite a long cut.We couldn't tell which fish it was but this piece of sushi was quite special and delicious, somewhat like semicooked yet it had not been grilled.The chef was so considerate to add some mashed ginger to balance the 秋刀魚 flavour.Eating mackerel as a sushi rather than the usual grilled fish made it not greasy at all.The seaweed for the 魚肝軍艦 was super super fresh and crispy. The fish liver was cut into 2 smaller pieces and was not greasy at all.黑醋蕯摩雞肉野菜煮 Black tea stewed potato and satsuma chicken with vegetables $118+10%The cooked dish set we ordered was black tea stewed potato and satsuma chicken with vegetables. There were 5 pieces of chicken which had obviously been freshly deepfried that the skin was so crispy. The flesh was also reasonably tender and juicy. The chicken had been well seasoned so that they went great with the accompanying plain rice. Accompanying veggies included 3 pieces of potatoes, 3 pieces of carrots, 4 slices of lotus roots, quite some sweet peppers and 1 baby corn. The sauce tasted good of black vinegar. The amount of veggies was really quite generous.Each set included an appetiser, a steamed savory egg and a miso soup. The appetiser was potato salad topped by some baby sakura shrimps. The steamed savory egg was pretty smooth with a few slices of Chinese mushrooms, 1 piece of chicken and 1 銀杏. The egg had been seasoned so it was a little bit but not overly salty.There were quite a lot of seaweeds and a few small tofu cubes in the soup. It was those relatively more salty type of miso soup.Seating was quite comfortable and it was a good place for a private chat. The lunch really made me feel that I had gone back to Japan for a short while before I headed back to hell.

上次在歌賦街吃了兩間出名的老店,已看到很多有個人特色的食店,只是中午時段,四處人滿為患,我偏偏就是不想等位,結果愈走愈入,走到街的盡頭,有一間新開的日式小食,門上畫了日式風景的京都街,而且有空餘座位,顧客不多,可以靜靜地享受午餐。

環境:店內空間只是容納了五張桌和一個吧台,桌與桌之間有防疫膠板,但佈置舒適,牆上掛有日式的畫風的捕魚畫品,牆頂上擺滿不同的清酒,吧台上是一塊大黑板,寫滿是日餐單,可惜我嫌貴沒有吃到。

因此只是點了一款是日午市定食。

服務:服務很貼心,送了口罩袋和濕紙巾。

食物:照燒蕯摩雞扒(定食) $128定食包括了麵鼓湯、漬物、日式蒸蛋、燒雞扒和白飯。

麵鼓湯除了比我平時喝的鹹了一點,我起初以為漬物一定是酸菜或白蘿蔔之類,想不到今次竟然是三文魚漬物,真是很特別,從來都試過。

主菜雞扒非常好吃,因為雞皮好像烤過一般,變得脆卜卜,平時我是不吃雞皮,嫌肥膩,但口感像脆皮的雞皮可比雞肉更棒,雞肉肉質嫩滑,配上甜醬油一流。

蒸蛋的技巧也很好,蛋帶有一點鹹香,顏色晶瑩,口感滑溜。

今餐吃得很滿足,亦很愉快。

最後,我發現旁邊竟然是一間朱古力奶專門店,更是入圍全球五名內,而且正營業中。

可惜吃得飽足,已經沒有胃口再喝,留待下次。

喺中上環四圍蕩嘅我哋,行完PMQ後時間剛好食晚餐,雖然都比較早,但食完可以轉場睇波⚽️。

PMQ落啲嘅歌賦街唔聲唔聲,其實有好多餐廳,仲要有唔同菜式同價格定位,總有一間啱你心水。

我哋行到去街尾,並被「岩手 ·建 」嘅門面吸引而進內試試。

餐廳環境唔大,但採用木系嘅裝修令人舒服😌。

另外,一邊牆係黑板寫上推介菜式,另一邊就有幅日式捕魚牆畫。

餐牌封面就如門面嘅畫一樣咁精美,食物種類頗多的,刺身壽司、和食、串燒以至天婦羅等都有,而且更設有廚師發板套餐👨🏻‍🍳。

不過我哋唔餓,一人食一個主菜就夠了。

季節刺身三色丼($268),丼飯大大碗,賣相吸引,因為落咗啲菊花花瓣🌼同樹葉🍂作點綴。

店員主動畀碗仔我哋Share食,細心。

三色刺身包埋三文魚、帶子同左口魚邊,刺身幾厚切,味道唔錯。

不過我最欣賞係丼飯本身🍚,因為師傅已經落咗醬油,所以好夠味,但又唔會過濃,恰到好處。

鹿兒島牛肋條定食($159),🐮牛肋條同白飯分開上的,牛肋條以外仲有沙律🥗作伴菜。

牛肋條唔係燒烤嗰種,而係用醬汁忟煮,因此味道非常濃郁,偏重口味少少,但配番白飯食就無問題啦😜。

你睇下牛肋肉嘅顏色就知道好夠味🤤,而且煮得好淋。

題外話,餐廳嘅餐具花紋好靚,貫切餐廳特色🥢。

總括嚟講,餐廳位置唔算就腳,但呢晚我仍見到有唔少捧場客👏,有枱更加自備酒水晚膳,並獲師傳熱情招侍,氣氛很好。

下次有機會我都想試下其他食物🎌。

I saw news about IwateKin’s opening in a Japanese magazine. It’s operated by a local chef who has quite some experience as a chef in Japanese kitchens and who I suppose had just decided to venture to open a shop of his own.I tend to feel that sometimes people who do that are simply too aspirant or uppity to accept life forever after as an employee, or it could be people who have a vision of how things should be and who has taken action to try and make it happen—although of course it is equally easy to underestimate how much more challenging it is to take charge versus how it would seem to be. As it is, most restaurant ventures fail, and even those that we find to be wonderful are not insured against the fate.Let’s set expectations straight. This is an izakaya, and even the most crowded izakayas in Japan will not be serving the kind of grades of sashimi that are served at a proper sushiya. The food menu is typically diverse and pretty large to suit drinkers who are out for an evening to socialize. I wouldn’t be benchmarking food here against fine dining sushi bars or thinking about their ingredients in fine detail. For me my judgment would be based on the consistency of the dishes presented across different types of foods on an allrounded basis, the ambience of the place and the hospitality that we receive.On our visit, we had the restaurant entirely to ourselves and we found the chef and our server to be more than courteous and accommodating, which helped us off to a great start. We picked some fresh items off the “Specials” board and ordered two sets. Some items were great, some were just okay. Pricing is in the reasonable range, although à la carte sashimi are priced just like anywhere else with no discount just because it’s a momandpop. I would say that for a place that just opened, it’s doing fine, and I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend the place to someone who’s in its immediate vicinity and just looking for a casual Japanese meal.However, the décor is a bit crude and the interior layout a little awkwardly shaped, with spaciousness and ventilation being somewhat of an issue that reduces comfort and could be a real deal breaker for evening diners. Lighting is dim, but not in a particularly moodlifting way. The place could benefit from some professional redesign work if it is to make diners happily seated for entire evenings–and still feel like returning. Unless, of course, the place offers an edge in pricing. But that’s just my view.P.S. the English part of the menu can be misleading, so please check with the server. For instance, a sashimi lunch set was named a sushi set, the tokachi beef shoulder clod set wasn’t accurately named, and a salmon roe and raw salmon rice bowl dish was named “salmon sweet egg broth rice bowl”.Food RundownGiant conch shell sashimi, $468This was the real highlight and was super fresh. Crisp texture with a wonderful sweet flavor. Highly recommended.Pacific Saury (sanma) fish sashimi, $198The quality of the sanma was a bit subpar and the way it was cut really didn’t give its texture and mouthfeel an extra lift.Tokachi beef shoulder clod (marinated with koji and miso) lunch set, $178This was good. The shoulder clod is an inexpensive cut that I tend to avoid when I cook, but here this was full of flavor with a wellbalanced mix of fat and lean. The koji marinade also made it a bit tenderer than usual, but not excessively so. Pleasantly surprised.Assorted sashimi set, $329This originally comes with a mini sea urchin don but I requested it ricefree so the entire set became two pieces each of four types of sashimi–sea urchin (uni), tuna (maguro), rosy seabass (akamutsu) and scallop (hotate). If not for the impeccable sea urchin on the day that was really quite fine dining standard, I might think the set was slightly overpriced. Akamutsu was great, the rest was just fine. Steamed egg, miso soup and appetizer (marinated ox tongue and cucumber) were all okay.Monkfish liverThis was okay. Velvety but one piece tasted very off.Honeycomb with sea salt ice cream and bananaApparently the honeycomb was flown in from Japan and it was divine. Looks unrefined but was quite a dessert to remember.

中環歌賦街稍稍遠離車來車往的商業區,小小社區熱鬧程度不比蘭桂坊遜色,尤其是星期六日的中午,食牛腩麵的,食茶餐廳的,食brunch 飲咖啡的應有盡有。

食高級日本菜的也有,就在歌賦街街尾 岩手. 健。

餐廳著實不大,但很有日本味道, 慢版的背景音樂,木系傢俬家具, 營造溫暖的場景。

慢慢享受星期六的下午也不錯。

午市套餐每款都包括茶碗蒸, 麵豉湯及薯仔沙律。

茶碗蒸口感滑滑溜溜, 入口有蛋香, 加入白果以及雞肉, 還是超嫰的。

味噌湯麵豉味香濃, 喝一口暖湯可以 喚醒味蕾。

角切魚生飯千萬別以為這裡的角切魚生飯是廉價吞拿魚八爪魚切頭切尾的普通貨色,一看魚肉就知道師傅以上等肉材上菜,金目立,石恆鯛,油甘魚,池魚,倒池魚和三文魚。

新鮮立魚刺身外表為淡紅,肉質爽口鮮美,淡淡甘甜,有獨特的清爽口感。

石恆鯛肉質細膩,油脂豐富,味道鮮甜。

油甘魚肉厚肥嫩,啖啖都充斥著魚油香氣。

島池魚質感爽口鮮甜,油脂較多魚味也較為濃。

每一款刺身都 色澤 亮麗,新鮮度十足,只看壽司刺身的豐盛與種類, 已經值回票價。

鹿兒島牛肋肉鹿兒島牛肋肉條肉汁豐富,爽口位置油香四射,牛肋條炆至腍嫩入味,連筋帶肉口感邊位同時又帶嫰滑質感,口感非常嫩滑,一啖咬下,入口即化。

油香配搭 煙韌有口感的日本米飯,包保連最後一粒米都吃掉。
