It was a busy Thursday night and two other restaurants we tried had waits of over an hour. So we went to Annapurna, which was surprisingly not busy for its quality.The staff was very friendly. They knew one of my colleagues by name (he apparently ate there every day for two months in a row, so take that as a recommendation!) I didn't eat much, but what I had was good and what everybody else had they thought was good.First, drinks: I had a mojito. This is a great, refreshing drink, which you can't find everywhere. The version here was tasty and fresh, minty, sugary, and icecold. It doesn't beat the ones in Puerto Rico, but it was better than most I've had in recent memory. 8/10.I also *purchased* one Nepalese beer. It didn't knock my socks off, but it was way better than Carlsberg or whatever people around here drink, and and! they gave us all a free round of Nepalese beers on the house. You can't beat that. 10/10.For dinner I had something from the spicy favorites section of the menu. There are only three dishes in the spicy favorites, and this one sounded the best fried chicken with bell peppers and onions. I asked for them to bring it to me "extra hot", because I love spice and I don't like to order things from the menu just because they say they're spicy and to get something that's not at all spicy.Early on, I thought the food was only "mild" then it became "medium" after I ate more of it then when I ate the fresh chilis in it it became "burning", which I admit I enjoyed a lot. As for the food (and not the spice) it was good. The peppers and onions were crunchy and sweet cooked quite well. The chicken was juicy and flavorful from the frying, though I'll have to say that I found it a little heavy on the cumin (I'm unusual in that I don't particularly care for cumin). Still, that didn't hurt an otherwise great dish. 8/10Three other people at the table had a soup made from a leafy Nepalese green they all thought it was great (I wasn't hungry enough for soup and a main dish).Final verdict: 8/10.

Annapurna is a small cozy restaurant in Soho.This is the first place I have ever tried Nepalese cuisine and it was love at first bite. I have been there often since they opened and I have tried almost everything on the menu (not the yak cheese salad yet).I have enjoyed everything that I have ordered.The food is fresh and full of flavour yet light enough for those watching for calories.Each dish usually comes with one of the five sauces that they make fresh from herbs and veggies daily.There are a few dishes that I strongly recommend:1)Momo These are delicious little dumplings filled with veggies and chicken flavoured with cumin and ginger.There are seven on a plate, perfect for sharing.2)Traditional Salad The dressing is amazing, it coats the small pieces of vegetable perfectly in its creamy texture.Since I like very spicy food, they make it extra hot for me.3)Chicken wings I love the way that they deboned the chicken wings so they look like little drumsticks.These tender juicy chicken wings are great with drinks.Though they are deep fried, they are never greasy. 4) Grilled lamb only one word for this, 'YUMMY".The service at this place is warm and welcoming, it is like eating at the home of a good friend.Minu (the owner) greets us with a big smile each time and makes each visit there very enjoyable.Annapurna is a great place to relax with a few friends over good food and drinks.Their kitchen opens late so it is really reassuring to know that there is good food available here when most places nearby by are closed.

Annapurna in Sanskirt literally means "Full of Food"... and when we left our evening of dining and shisha at this amazing place in Soho, this is exactly what we were...full of GREAT food!! I'd like to tell you all that this is a horrible place and to stay away so that it won't be ruined by the likes of all the expats in midlevels hogging every table, but I can't... this place is a real gem.Tucked away at the end of Staunton St (close to Aberdeen rd.) this Nepalese restaurant is my new favorite place.The food, the service, the drink and the shisha are all amazing! Upon our arrival we were greeted by the owner. I told her that this was our first time here and asked what she would recommend.She pointed out a fried potato dish as an appetizer, and for the mainsthe green chicken and lamb curry were among the local favorites. So we tried them all. My husband sipped on the mint tea and I on the homemade sangria.When we received our first dish, I fell in love.The potatoes were cooked to perfection. The light curry flavoring was just enough to tickle the tastebuds.Once our main course arrived I knew that I'd be returning to try just about everything on the menu.Both dishes were amazingly good. The mint tea is fresh, she uses fresh mint. And the sangria with all fresh fruits.We ended our meal with the traditional shisha pipe, apple flavor.It was the perfect ending to the perfect dining experience.The other great aspect, the price. It's not the typical overpriced fare you usually experience in midlevels. The pricing was actually on par to the quality of food you get.And you can't beat the service. From the moment you walk in to the time you leave you are treated like a queen (or king!)! I give this place an "A".I don't normally hand out "A's" but Annapurna is just too special to not talk about.I hope to see you there! Bon appetite!

The world is an unjust place when this place is sitting empty and the entirely middleoftheroad Cru (located opposite) is packed. Annapurna is a little Nepalese restaurant near the end of Staunton Street. It's dark and intimate, with casual seating rather than proper tables and chairs as a result of its narrow space. The absence of a formal dining seating may explain why it's often rather empty. However, the food is sumptuously delicious whilst feeling light and healthy (lots of veggie options, lentils and the like) and the service professional and friendly. I always order the momo cha (Nepali dumplings ranks as one of my favourite dumplings in HK) and a platter of their delicately spicy curries (potato and lentil curries with rice). Such a satisfying meal for not a lot of $$.There are very few restaurants in this area where I feel I have gotten a goodvalue dining experience and this is one of them. I just hope it sticks around for me to enjoy (hence this review to try to encourage more people to try it out)!
